Chairing a session at the HTE Infokom 2021 conference

At the Infokom conference of the Scientific Association for Infocommunications (HTE), Dr. Csaba Huszty co-chairs a session on current challenges in telecommunications together with Dr. Gábor Magyar.

We often hear about technological disruption in the telecommunications industry and about competition between telcos and new market entrants. Demand for traditional telecom services is falling. People's communication habits — and the technologies behind them — have changed, and evolving needs must be served reliably and in user-friendly ways. Will the ongoing reshuffling of work, learning and leisure between online and offline settings last? What does it mean when IoT communication volumes overtake human information exchange? Does the "greening" of telecoms and IT genuinely serve the planet's sustainability, or do we see "greenwashing" here too? How can the telecom industry keep pace with such varied demands and preserve or grow its business position? 5G is being adopted faster than any previous generation — when and how will we unlock that potential with new services and greater capacity? Will 5G alone fundamentally reshape the opportunities of operators and equipment vendors? Are there other trend-turning technological shifts in sight? Can it be considered a trend that consumers increasingly prefer providers who truly understand their needs instead of forcing the customer to adapt to one-size-fits-all products? Can the rise of cloud services and AI be considered trend-setters? What constraints and opportunities are emerging around communication security?

Session time: 3 November 2021, 09:50–11:20.
